“Building A Better World: The Role of Cooperatives and Mutuals in Economy and Society”
The UN declared 2012 to be International Year of Cooperatives. As part of the New Zealand celebrations of this International Year, the NZASCM held an international conference on cooperative research on June 21 and 22 2012 in Wellington entitled “Building A Better World: The Role of Cooperatives and Mutuals in Economy and Society”.
The NZASCM was formally launched at this conference which was organised jointly with the School of Economics and Finance, Victoria University of Wellington and the New Zealand Cooperatives Association.

The keynote speaker for the conference was Michael L. Cook, Chair of the Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of Missouri:
